We are above freezing but my, it’s ugly. Gray, raining and large piles of dirty snow hanging on for dear life. Even the horizon and the skyline blend into a big grey nothingness. Bleh!
This does not do a lot for my outlook. The joie de vive of last week disappeared with the sun and it’s not forecast to return until Sunday, Run little people, when you see me approach. RUN!
I’ve been reading a biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder. And I can’t imagine how awful it must have been to face these winters in little log shanties. Should make me determined to just suck it up.
But I shall not.
Laura Ingalls Wilder had the sense to leave the Dakotas and Minnesota and go to Missouri where she and Almanzo built their dream farmhouse and lived a happy, prosperous life.
I can’t promote living in Minnesota during winter but I highly recommend reading the biography. It’s called Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Writer’s Life.
Most interesting,
I think this shot is great, despite the gray. Will have to check out that book. One day. Summer? ๐
Thanks, AGK. Yes, read the book in summer. I’m not much of a biography reader but I really found this one interesting, particularly from the writing life aspect. I think you’d really enjoy it.
