Saturday Night at the Studio #Analog Inspired by the amazing #polaroid250 images of #polasquare, I set off to my studio this evening to see if I could accomplish something that made me happy. After a crash course in Polaroid250 tweaks, I dragged out my one monolight. For someone who shoots at least 100mm in 35mm and natural light at f/2.8, working out how to frame a 40mm equivalent and expose it for ISO100 and f8.8 was a challenge. I also wanted there to be dimension – not just a blast from the strobe. Much metering and checking with my 5D. I metered for f/9 with the main light, and put my Neewer flash in a Rogue Flashbender stripbox as a kicker for the hanging frame. I have cheap Cowboy Studio triggers, and was able to sync wirelessly, with the shoe flash set on slave. Worked like a charm. Three hours later, I had shot five polaroids and each one worked. Now that I’ve worked out some logistics, I can’t wait to shoot some people. I LOVE this camera. #instant #fujifp100c #geekmode #filmisnotdead #filmshooter #love #Minnesota #missionaccomplished

This looks fantastic. I love the set and the light – I’d like to put one of my models in there! ?? seriously, though. Very cool. I always use my tungsten fresnels for my light, but I’ve been wanting to play with strobes so I could maybe go outside at night with them. Did you trigger them by hand?

@polasquare Well, I pulled bits and pieces I had around using your sets as inspiration. I even have an old door. I wondered if you used continuous lights as yours have such gorgeous warm tones. I used cheap triggers for my monolight, which I metered to f/9. Short sync cord from the camera PC port to the trigger, then had a manual shoe flash as a slave. I read somewhere the pc thing on the 250 acts like it’s x-sync. It worked — the shutter didn’t stay open.
